Sometimes, it pays to keep it simple. That’s what this recipe aims to do by taking ingredients you can find at any grocery store and turning them into a tasty tailgating dish. What I like most about this Taco Hotdish and Guacamole recipe (besides the taste) is how easy it is to prepare the day of, or the night before. You wouldn’t know it at first, but this recipe originates from an old Betty Crocker cookbook recipe from the 1960’s. I think it’s safe to say that its held up well over the years. Another great thing about this dish is that you can prepare it in a variety of ways to suit your guests. You can stick to the basics to appeal to the masses, or spice it up if your group enjoys some more heat in their food. One thing I’d like to try next time is substituting ground turkey for the beef to see how that turns out. I’ll also admit that I’m not the biggest fan of guacamole. However this recipe for simple, homemade guacamole is something that I thoroughly enjoyed. It really lets the avocado be the star, with the other ingredients doing their part to provide supporting flavors. Combing the Taco Hotdish and Guacmole dishes together makes for a really good spread that will surely go over well at your next tailgate!
I’d like to thank my good friend Andrew who told me about this recipe and who was nice enough to come over and make it for me. But without further ado, feel free to check out our cooking video, ingredients list, and directions below 🙂
