Caipirinha Recipe

Caipirinha RecipeAre you looking for an easy-to-make, refreshing drink for those hot afternoons in the tailgating lot? For this recipe we went south of the border, and then south of that border, all the way down to Brazil. Caipirinha is considered the official alcoholic beverage of Brazil, and is enjoyed throughout the entire country. This Caipirinha recipe is simple, only requiring 3 ingredients: Cachaça, Sugar, and Lime.

Cachaça is a distilled spirit traditionally made from sugarcane. Not all liquor stores may have Cachaça since it’s more of a specialty spirit, but you should find it near the rum section. Traditionally, you would want to put the lime and sugar in an Old Fashioned glass and muddle it together. Since I didn’t have a muddle, a wooden spoon can also do the trick. After you are finished with that, add the Cachaça and fill with ice. I may have changed the order of how I did it, but do whatever makes most sense to you.

This drink does a great job of combining the sweetness of the sugar with the sourness of the lime on top of the Cachaça. You could even experiment by using other fruits as well. Simply put, this drink is amazing. Fans who enjoy margaritas will find similar comfort with Caipirinha.

Ingredients (Serving Size = 1)

  •  3 Tbsp. of Cachaça
  •  2 Tsp. of Sugar
